i was approached by a company to produce a healthy drink that would have a connection to the Music Squad. My task was to create an urban juicer of my own design that would appeal to children and teenagers. I looked into three artists, Banksy, Blu and Sixeart I found them very inspiring, I have taken some of their ideas to help with my design as they had a mixture of bright colours and some funky shapes. For example, Blu did their work on buildings, which I found interesting as it's an unusual perspective. My design has a mixture of different bright colours which I thought would appeal the the target audience.
I also did 12 drawings before the final piece and i found that very difficult after doing 5 as it was hard to mix it up and have different colours for fruits.
What went well
I enjoyed the planning of the characters, as it gave me time to think about a good design and what colours would be appropriate for the target audience (children and teenagers). It gave me the freedom to experiment with different shapes. I think overall the planning was the best part for me throughout the whole task given to us. The use of Illustrator was hard to get to get used to as you there are so many tools to remember.
What did not go well
i think designing the mouth was the hardest part for me, as i could't get the perfect mouth and i spent ages getting it to how it is now, next time i may go for a simple option.
what inspired me?
Blu expired me the most to design my urban juice man, i found the work very inspiring to me which gave me ideas about my juice man.
